Today was the 5k race in Cheektowaga, a suburb of Buffalo, and it went better than expected!!!
I had waited to register until I knew for certain what the weather was up to-- It turned out to be a wonderful morning. So, I stopped by FleetFeet and bought a new pair of running shorts, and then registered at the Feel The Spirit 5K. It was organized by a local Catholic church.
My Goal: 25:00
My finish time today: 23:18!!!!!
I pushed really hard and took no breaks. The last quarter mile nearly killed me-- but the finish line was within sight and it kept me going. I placed 62nd out of 250 and 4th in my age division. I was hoping to take home one of the beer mug trophies for placing in the top three of the 30-34 year olds but still left happy. I beat my own goal for the day and that was enough.
OK- It is Saturday, I know many of you are participating in 5k's today-- How did it go?

Great job, Patrick! That's right where I was last year at this time, so now you know where you need to be this time next year ;).
ReplyDeleteOutstanding job on your 5K! Fourth in your age division is a huge accomplishment. Even better, you exceeded your own personal goals. I'm glad the day was nice for you & you got to run in shorts. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comment on my blog. :)
Holy cow, that is some serious beating of the goal! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That's awesome! It must be great to beat your own time goals. Well done!
ReplyDeleteDude-great job on the race! Thanks for checking out my little blog. I got a couple of comments regarding my choice in shoes, so I'm going to post about the Asics and how I started wearing them. I like your blog and with your permission will add it to my favorites. Major kudos to you for quitting smoking and getting healthy through running.
ReplyDeleteNo beer mug.... sounds like you rocked your race indeed!!! Sweet finish time :)
ReplyDeleteI'll keep checking in.
